Strange animals in Hong Kong 1900 onwards

Hello.I lived in Hong Kong from 1966-1985 on The Peak.I have been gathering material, reports, etc since about 1995 with my friend and fellow ex-Hong Konger Jon Downes, who now lives in Devon,U.K (I live in Cheshire)for a book yet to be written,to be called `The Mystery Animals of Hong Kong`.When Jon first asked me to start researching I was very dubious,I couldn`t believe a location the size of Hong Kong could contain any suprises-how wrong I was! If anyone has any stories of any strange, unexpected, extraordinary, anomalous wildlife in Hong Kong,no matter how unlikely, please can they let us know via this Forum?Since 1900 I have collected reports of wolves, dholes, a giant salamander or two, a slow loris, dugongs,a bear and even a hyena and kangaroo!(Seriously, I can give you the bibliographic refs.)
    Thanks for any help.Rich.

We get porcupines quite often. Nothing special except they are huge!

Monitor lizards...up to 4 meters in length. Some claim to still see them in the NT, but very rare...

I love seeing the monkeys in Central NT, but very common along with pocupines.
I've not seen a boar but my family has.
I've read about many of these but havent seen many:

    Monkeys
    Wild boar
Both extremely common in our neck of the woods....probably because we live in the woods...

Have also seen a barking deer a couple of time butmuch less common.

Ps. We have a momma boar and her four piglets that hang out once in a while at the stream 10' from our kitchen door. And the monkeys sit in the kumquat tree in the backgarden throwing peels at the dogs...
