So you moved to Hong Kong and found yourself living in a space much smaller than you did before. After you calmed down and started to enjoy the piano player next door and the flat footed 4 year old upstairs what were the cool space saving ideas you noticed around your apartment?

Recently I viewed an apartment which had a raised floor built into the bedroom floor which provided storage space for suitcases and the like, as well as the base for the bed.

In a different place I saw a special vented cupboard in the back of a kitchen unit which housed a de-humidifier.

Hallways seem to be popular for lowering ceilings and creating extra storage.

i've been using one side of my stairs for shoes, and hallways are great! - right on the floor is fine there too, for somethings, if its wide enough; mine is lined with suitcases and extra cases of beer.

I stopped using under-the-bed things to make cleaning easier. I find freestanding units that go all the way to the ceiling best.
