So to see the white man pointing at us and calling us racist makes me laugh. They deserve it.

Intolerance in America, Republican Speaker Compares Latinos To Donkeys At Anti-Immigration Reform Rally

During a “jobs” rally turned anti-immigration reform rally just steps away from the
Capitol Building in Washington DC, a conservative speaker sang the praises of
racial purity and compared Latinos to donkeys, saying that inter-breeding with
them would stain the DNA of white Americans

At least it sells paper (I hope for them at least).
    Agreed absolutely!

My husband teaches Cantonese and he has loads of Indian students. All of them LOVE Hong Kong! Why do you think is that? Surely not because those vicious locals attack them every day :P

I think the "racism" card is so overplayed these days, the word has lost its original meaning. Basically any personal preference can now be interpreted as "racism". How boring.

Well, I, too, would prefer to not have certain nationalities as my neighbours. So what? Sue me!
A personal preference is not racism, it's not even discrimination. It's like saying I'm racist because I prefer not to date certain nationalities. I'm friends with many SE Asians, however, it does not always mean that I'd be overjoyed to have all of them as my next-door neighbour. It's got nothing to do with race but rather with certain lifestyle habits that I personally may find difficult to live with. Sure, you may happen upon jerks in any nation, but the chances of happening upon someone who has similar routines and lifestyle choices is a lot higher among your own folk. This is rather normal among many different enthic and cultural groups. I don't see why it should come as a surprise for anyone.

I kind of see where solidops is coming from.

Whites (especially Westerners) preaching to others about racism and, as is now usual, repreatedly doing "holier than thou" in matters of discrimination and other sensitive issues. LOL.

The racism card is played by those who doesn't make any distinctions between locals and never look at the local's side of the coin.

Just the other day an Indonesian helper ask to buy fruit for $10 but he let her bargained to $7. Any less is never going to happen. She then said it's her own money. The local went "Oh your money? Okay okay, $5."

I prefer not to hire certain nationalities.
I prefer not to work with certain nationalities.
I prefer not to sit beside certain nationalities on the MTR/bus.
I prefer certain nationalities not to go to the same shop as me.
    ....

Only my preference, not racists at all.

I am curious as to what lifestyle habits such neighbours may have that would affect you?

Awful smelling soup cooking and loud clatter clatter clatter from late night mahjong are two I have experienced. Having neighbours piss you off doesn't mean you are racist.

So many Chinese / locals then? Good luck then in finding a place where you won't have them as neighbours.

Agree. But excluding certain nationalities from the onset as neighbours without knowing if they are going to be good or bad neighbours is racist.
