I dont ever recall losing utilities (phone, water, electricity) in the past 20 years but I do know that the ferries shut down very frequently. The buses and MTR does also shut but thats a rarity and its announced well in advance. Taxis always work, even if you do have to pay extra

When I first arrived, I would keep candles in a kitchen drawer in case of a power interruption. But in my defence I did come from the UK!

The last evening departure of the Inter Islands ferry has been moved forward to 6:45pm for the last circuit, but it will still be running to about 9pm. I see no announcement of any other changes on the ferry companies' websites.

Thanks auss and Grunt, DB ferries apparently running until further notice (must admit they do ride it out after 8 is up, just takes them a while to get going once 8 is down).
