Shhhh! You'll wake the weather bears, they get grumpy when people suggest Hong Kong weather isn't up to par. http://hongkong.geoexpat.com/forum/5...d264638-6.html

I'm not complaining of course! I think it's hilarious. Yesterday felt like Armageddon yet we were all at work, today's the nicest day of the week and I'm in a safe place, ie my bed.

wind is picking up here a little bit in new territories.

by the way, how does this work? once they pull the warning, we have to be at work by 2 hours?

Dependent on most company policy, but that's the norm. 2 hours is regarded as sufficient time to get back to work....that is if you don't live in the outback and can fight your way through the crowds all going back to work.

Have a thought for those that don't work in a cushy office block, but in exposed areas of HK.

What % of HK is that... most places seem to have office blocks as far as I can see.

If the weather is fine in 60% of HK, you'd think they could make the rules a little more flexible. Security guy where I stay was wearing a hard hat - no wind or rain, and it's a completely covered area anyway. A little more common sense could be applied here.

It is a wonder that things are not flying around here in Wong Chuk Hang ... HUGE MTR construction site and several buildings in various state of tear-down or being built up.

Quite windy. Was a bit bummed out that the Starbucks was not open... but 7-11 was.

Or they could have recognise that the weather at Ngong Ping is probably not representative of the whole of HK and issue separate signals for built-up areas. Then maybe people would take this a bit more seriously rather than as a bit of a joke.
