I think the big danger is stuff blowing off buildings- I've seen all sorts of scaffolding, sign boards, plant pots etc smashed on the pavement after a typhoon. You don't really wanting to be walking around outside too much til the winds gone down.

This is the only cause of injuries I remember hearing about from recent typhoons. I've also seen things being blown off nearby buildings... from the office window...

Local winds are expected to weaken gradually this afternoon. The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 around 2 p.m.
Looks like T8 will be up for a while.

Does that mean definitely not before 2? Can I go back to bed?

In case you haven't realize, this ain't UK, if you don't like it, you can turn tail and head back to good ol' England.
Enough T8s and the T10 last year thanks very much. Certainly enough to form an opinion on the matter. Oh and where did I say I didn't like it ? Go back to England ? Not a chance. I was there a month ago and it's still doom and gloom though the property market's picking up at long last.
