Many businesses resume 2 hours after T8 is lowered.

I went to the warehouse and was doing some work there about 10.30 am. No one in the streets around Kwun Tong. Left around 3.30pm and there were streams of people going to work. Streets was like peak hour.

Many work to 6pm to 7 pm so you will be able to get a few hours in.

A lot of companies follow Stock Exchange and Banks, with a 12 noon rule.
Central MTR station at 2:40PM yesterday was like something from a Zombie film.

Hordes of people shuffling in one direction, in near silence with a very gloomy, lifeless expressions.

We have a 3 pm rule and we need to get back to work within 2 hours after the T8 is lowered which is a total waste of time imo, Rather stay at home and scratch me gonads.

I did in the end go to work though, arrived at 5.30pm and left at 6pm, only to pick up my Marks and Spencers goods that I forgot to take home, one of my staffs family member is a M&S staff, she gets me 30% of even discounted items. Woohooo

A lot has to do with 'engagement'. In the office here, the moaning and groaning from people who live directly above MTR lines was ridiculous. A lot of our people don't look at is as an opportunity to work from home, they have more of a day off attitude. BB traffic dropped dramatically because people were just treating it as a paid day off. You can tell a lot about the motiviation of your workforce on days like yesterday. We're global so there's certainly no lack of work even when HK shuts down.

Superwoman dives to the rescue and what do the police ask???

When police asked her why she rescued the man despite the stormy waters, Chow said she assessed the environment before jumping in.
FFS the waters wasnt that bad as all the moaners know

I'd be surprised if any westerner would ask that question. They would be more likely to say "that was brave" or even "brave but foolhardy" but questioning WHY someone would try to save a life? Cultural?

You forgot to mention the part that those companies would be liable for any injuries sustain by their employees on their way to work (or at work-if their jobs require them to work outside) under a T8. That's why the vast majority of offices are shut during a T8. Insurance might not cover the employers during a T8, so they will have to pay out of their own pocket for liability issues.

Yeah, that's how HK is like during a T8 for many locals (and alot of expats too I might add). Whether one like it or not, it has always has been like that. I doubt that's gonna change unless the HKO drastically change the typhoon warning system (don't hold your breath for that).

What law, regulation or precedent do you base this on? Specific pointers (wihtout idle speculation) would be best.
