Not exactly. Strictly-speaking, typhoons in the pacific are more frequent and produce the strongest tropical cyclones on the planet. The Atlantic basin is less active in contrast, and while it can certainly produce very powerful Cat 5 storms, their frequency and overall wind speed is less than what is found in the Pacific.

Also note that the US measure sustained wind speed by 1 minute average, while HK (and most of Asia) measure it by 10 minute average (which tend to produce a lower wind speed).

Maybe we can try to keep the noise down.

Let's watch and see if these two interact. Pretty difficult for anyone to give good predictions at this stage.

Interesting, yep we may see the Fujiwhara effect here.

Smarty, cyclones like typhoons or hurricanes always affect more than just an area the size of a city. Didn't know I have to explain it to you, my apologies, LOL.

NARI is around 400km from you and heading in your direction. What you are experiencing now is the outer rain bands of a storm that is still increasing in strength. What time is your flight this evening? NARI might make landfall late this evening or in the early hours...Keep your eye on those flights...wouldn't surprise me at all if you (your flight that is!) were cancelled...

I'm interested to know how Manila Airport and Philippine-based airlines (i.e. Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific) handle typhoon cancellations compared to Hong Kong airport and CX and KA.

Min07 is busy inflating her blow up raft in preparation of the flooding, if possible she would like the raft to take her back to HK ASAFP (as soon as [email protected]#king possible)
