I had a hunch when the early forecast showed a direct hit on HK that it was too good to be true, for I knew in the back of my mind that the Li Ka Shing force field could be there again to protect HK.

Still, I guess we at least can welcome some rain and wind to cool the heat.

It's only the sneaky ones that get past the force field. The ones that double back or suddenly intensify. This one had no chance.

My friend was saying, half-jokingly, that the HKO will put up T3 soon as a way to dissuade people from marching on the streets today. Even if he made that comment seriously, I doubt the government has such political manipulation wisdom, hahaha.

Correction: T3 is now issued by the HKO, I'm sure that warning has no relations to the July 1st march to take place from 2:30pm...is there? Hehehe.

Heavy rain started just as I was getting on a ferry in Central but now I'm almost at Lantau, no sign of rain, just grey skies and choppy water.

Not to "raise" anyone's hope or anything (at this point T3 looks like the most we'll get), but the Joint Typhoon Warning Center has upgraded Rumbia from a Tropical Storm into a Typhoon (http://www.usno.navy.mil/JTWC/). The HKO may also upgrade Rumbia into a Typhoon later today. If confirmed by the RSMC in Japan, Rumbia would be the first typhoon of the 2013 season.
