Those of you who take more than a passing interest in such things will be paying more attention to the ALPA to the east of Hainan than the TD off the Philipines!

It's a bit disorganised now but you never know! Remember this time 2012?

I can see it on the picture you posted. The little blob of cloud east of Hainan is Invest 92W. JTWC won't call it (rightly) until, and indeed if, it organises. There is a less than 50% chance of a TD forming there before Thursday and it could just fizzle out!

....and that's the fun of typhoon watching!

94W is spinning up nicely. (I incorrectly referred to it as 92W earlier)

So I'm going to call it now....Tropical storm by lunchtime Friday.

If we get warnings it will be the usual Friday evening most of Saturday bollocks....sorry!
