    Crazy cab driver

Did anyone read about the bizarre ‘Space Mountain’ cabbie story in The Standard?

"Four young people feeling glum as they could not share a sunrise with the Big Buddha were told by a cabbie that he would cheer them up with a downhill trip from Nong Ping. But it turned into a Lantau hell ride… 64-year-old taxi driver So Hin's idea of fun was a hair-raising series of swerves and screeches downhill from Nong Ping that ended with a smash into a tree. But at least they escaped with their lives."

Reminds me of the time I took a taxi from the HK island to Yuen Long in a thunderstorm - the speed the driver was going on the motorway with the rain pelting down and lightning flashing, was seriously the scariest ‘rollercoaster ride’ I’ve ever had!

Anyone else experienced ‘near death’ taxi rides in HK?

Sometimes I suspect half of all taxi drivers in HK are mentally deranged.

HK cabbies and HK mini bus drivers are just as bad as each other!

The green mini bus drivers are not that bad. We have some really good ones on the routes that I take - 28, 4A/B/C, 59, 8 ....

But things are always much more nicer in the south side of Hong Kong.

Shri, leave the south side of HK and venture out to Yuen Long... board any mini bus there and you'll get to experience a ‘Space Mountain’ ride without being in Disneyland

Been on the odd buttock-clenching minibus ride to Stanley.

Had to call 999 on one taxi driver who locked the doors and wouldn't stop.

    probably just a fabricated story

    1. The name of the place is Ngong Ping, not Nong Ping
    2. There are no taxis hanging around at Ngong Ping before sunrise
Unless you call a taxi over
3.("The hilly road has many sharp turns," he said, "and buses have to stop at certain points to let vehicles in the opposite lane pass.)
no such thing on whole Lantau, sometimes bus stops at a bus stop to let faster vehicles take over but even that never happens in that area. You can not drive to the buddha without a permit for South Lantau and the locals usually don't drive there. The people who live here and work at da buddha take the bus.

So the reporter writes balance sheet

Morrison - Unfortunately could not find any judgements in the Judiciary case lists .... no clue how to use it given the little information available:

    Name: So Hin
    Court: Tsuen Wan Magistrates Court
    Magistrate: Raymond Wong Kwok- fai
