    is the maid too slow

    Hi ,

I live in TC and we have PT maid coming over twice a week. She only does cleaning and i have aorun 1000 sqf 3 Br apartment.

However I feel that may be she takes a bit too long , in order to charge more. She taken around 3.5 - 4 hours to clean to bathrooms and the apartments. (first does the dry mop and then wet cloth over the floor).
i am curious to know about how much do normal maid take to clean a similar apartment. i dont want her to be a robot yet don want to over-pay for something I can do in less than half the time.

Also how do you normally pay the PT maid who regularly come (let say twice a week for 3 hours each). do you fux the total payment or is it still per hour normally.
ps: if someone has a good PT maid in TC, please give me the contact.

    Thanks!!

Your instincts might get you right, I somewhat doubt your part-time worker is taking too much time for her work, especially if she comes over twice a week. There shouldn't be so much work, excepts if she does the ironing too, which takes up some time.

I live in TC ( 3 bedrm too) and i hv a maid who stayed with us. An experienced maid should finished with a bathroom for abt 30mins. afterall, 2 and a half hour would be generous enough for your part-time maid for the toilets and bedrms

I had a pt maid who came in twice a week for our 700 sq ft apartment and she does the whole lot in two hours.

    Thats everything.

    thanks guys...
do you poay them hourly? i am thinking of fixing this to 150 $ /day in order to make her more time efficient...hope she would agree to that.

i asked her to do the ironing and she managed to press 3 shirts in 70 mins and i never dared to ask her to do that again.

and also again, if you have a good PT maid, please do send me the contact info.

I have a PT maid that comes in once a week & she cleans our 1,700 sq ft 3-bdrm flat in 4 hours. (No laundry except bedsheets & no pressing) I also pay her hourly - fixed 4 hrs each time - I just write her a check for the entire amount every month. I've also had friends tell me that our PT maid is too slow & does not do a good enough job ... but being that I trust her & have given her a key, I don't mind a little slow or a little less clean.

hi BSC 1280! IF U CAN DO IT IN HALF A TIME, WHY DON'T YOU DO IT YOURSELF? why waste ur money? besides doing household works is a good exercise. normally, 4 hours is the minimum time a part time maid can finish the apartment, depending on what your demands are. Remember, when you say cleaning..."as in CLEANING" it's not only the floor! it's the corners of your house, dusting, scrubbing ur toilet, windows, ironing your clothes...etc...etc...depending on how messy ur house is...did you consider that? anybody can do a "super flash" cleaning...but is it really clean??!

I pay my helper a set rate for the month, my helper's hours are flexible as I am not always around just want to ensure the work gets done ... I am a single gal that has crazy hours at times so this working relationship is an ideal situation works best for both parties

She works from a basic list that we both agreed on (her idea) ... and a communication notebook where notes and updates are left that way no misunderstanding and communications... she is at my house approximately 8 to 10 hours per week depending ... yes this agreement is very much based on trust and there are times when things may not be as I wish but open communication is key as I don't expect my helper to be able to read my mind.

Overall everything works out for the best ...
