Think taping just for protection so the glass won't be shattering around and hitting you?!

Hmmm I can't see a couple of pieces of tape offering much protection against shattered glass.

Edit- checked the interweb and experts say don't bother, it's pointless. Though as I was typing it in, 'tape your wife to the ceiling' came up as a search term on google

    Maybe it's just a myth

How about thick cardboard against the glass pane and taped securely with gaffer tape ( masking tape is useless ) to the window frame ? Unfortunately, we don't have enough mattresses to cover windows in our house. Good thing though, if you don't have a tree or many trees close to your windows.

Just checked. Lots of trees in front of the kitchen window :-(

Indeed, however it's better it hits a developed/prepared city like HK rather than rural coastal areas of the Philippines or the Mainland!

Was it just an optical illusion or did the eye of Usagi almost moved dead west for a few hours last night before heading in a more northwest direction again?

Some forecasts are now are saying Usagi might approach us from a more southern direction rather than landing to the east of us, which may make it worse because HK will then be more exposed to the wind.

Apparently "Tape your wife to the ceiling" is a hit song from The Suburbs.

The multi-agency forecast shows two stations (JTWC and CWB) forecast a slight southern approach, while the rest four stations (HKO, JMA, NMC, and KMA)) forecast a slight northern approach.
