There seems to be some lack of understanding among some posters about the size of these monsters. 50km here or there makes little difference so whether it is a direct hit on Shek O or not doesn't really matter. The only good thing about a direct hit is to experience the calm while the eye passes over, very strange.

Wonder where the best place to see the typhoon will be, tomorrow evening. Will have a good view from the apartment but might be fun to head out. Anyone know if that outside area on IFC by Red bar will be closed off in a typhoon?

Sitting at Heathrow 12.30pm flight from LHR is going ahead, night flights from LHR are cancelled though. No anticipated problems for a morning departure to Sydney.

A friend was due to fly back to HK from Melbourne on Sun eve and her flight has been cancelled - she was told not to expect to fly until Tues.
