I haven't put up any masking tape on our windows unless they really begin to rattle in the middle of the night. You can remove the residue by using nail polish remover on it or some stuff one can buy at city super, no problem.

Masking tape is useless anyways, duct tape is what you would need to use (if you believe it actually helps). Then try removing that.

Duct tape, as in, gaffer tape? Yep, got that. Prefer it to masking but yes, it IS a @$&$ to get off! No, I still don't have any tape on our windows.

It's similar to duct tape, which is said to be even harder to get off than gaffer tape.
