I love reading stories like this. Are people really that dumb. Typhoon forecast for at least 4 days. Situation changeable. Oh yeah let's blame the airline

To be fair, it was rather hard to figure out what was going on from a distance. We were trying to check MrMin's flights (he flies back today) and it kept saying "on time" but of course we knew from you guys that the airport was shut! Still saying "on time" so of course he just has to go to the airport and find out in person.

Not a breath of wind here in Clear Water Bay, just rain, and teardrops from my daughter who was going on a school trip this morning. No signs of damage out and about either, apart from the occasional pot plant knocked over.

Waters are quite dirty but marina is definitely still intact so your home should be fine!

    From the HKO:
According to the present forecast track, the gales related to Usagi will depart from Pearl River Estuary and the vicinity later this morning. If the local winds continue to weaken and remain below gale force, the Observatory will consider issue the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at or before 10 a.m. The public should stay tuned for the latest information on Usagi.

Drove into Shatin 30 mins ago from Lam Tsuen, quite a few large branches in the road, no trees though. Seems ok.. MTR full of sleepy looking people, business as usual.

I grew up on the south coast of the UK (which is by no means its windiest area) where the sort of windspeeds quoted were reasonably frequent events, and wouldn't generally stop people going about their business. When the gusts get above about 110km/h then it starts to be come a bit more unusual.
Yup that's right...south coast of the uk.....population? Infrastructure? ..HK....population? Infrastructure? Yep...
