Okay. So guys, I hate to do this because it will probably bounce of the shield at 400km and bugger off past Hainan.....but.....HKO has just announce Super Typhoon status and they are speaking with extreme confidence about a direct hit on Sunday.

Why is this different? The main problem we have here in HK is that our last line of defence has been neatly skirted, namely the Phillipines... USAGI can continue to intensify over the warm waters in it's path without being slowed by landfall....It's huge, even if the typhoon misses by 2-300kms we will still experience severe weather conditions...Tomorrow I will consider asking Shri to sticky this post until Tuesday....

Well there goes HKO's long weekend, they'll be glued to their screens for the next 72 hours no doubt. Must admit it is looking like the 'perfect storm' of all the elements coming together. Off to buy masking tape tomorrow just in case.

sadly there is no mother-in-law this time round....although taping my ex mother-in-law to a lamp post in the eye of a super typhoon sounds very tempting.....very tempting indeed if the ex was also there

I'll have to settle for taping the windows if it keeps true to course.

Taping the windows is a bizarre habit with no real grounding in fact. And it's a nightmare to get the tape off again - I wouldn't bother if I were you.

Awwww, but I've seen them doing it in the movies, so it must work! Oh well, one less thing to worry about then. I'll just make sure the gin and tonics are well stocked up instead.

In the US when we had a blizzard the first things the store would run out of were chips (crisps), beer, milk and toilet paper, in about that order.
