Well I guess people think they can just get the sea water for that purpose.

    It's a typhoon, not a radiation cloud.

Well - our boat is all tied up and important documents moved to my office. This one is looking like that one 2 years ago which threatened (in a very scary manner) but eventually missed us. If it does make a direct hit I will almost be sad to miss it. Almost. MrMin is supposed to be flying back on Monday so if we get a direct hit on Sunday he may be disrupted.

Just noticed you are living at Gold Coast. I live pretty close to there.

On a serious note, would that indicate the HKO has high confidence in the storm hitting HK? Or is it just a precautionary measure/covering their ass move?

In any case, if this forecast track is proven correct, then HK will be facing a very severe situation. It will make Vicente from last year look like a mild breeze in comparison. I dont think you would dismiss or make jokes about Utagi if we are facing a direct hit (which may very well be the case here).

I've never seen such an early warning so I don't know what to think. Jokes aside, I tend to trust their professionalism. It's such a big storm that we are virtually guaranteed strong winds, even if it misses by 300 or even 400 kms.

I think it's the confidence. I've never seen that kind of announcement before.

Sorry, mis-press report post, my mistake. Anyway, if that is the case HK is facing a more serious situation than any previous typhoon in the last two decades. Utagi is no joke. It will be a cat 5 storm. A direct hit from such a powerful typhoon is something HK has not face in decades. A day off would be the last thing you would worry about for a cat 4 or 5 storm.
