    I have absolutely no idea...

I don't know what cash resources China has.

I don't know the value of the humanitarian aid China are giving.

I don't know what happens behind the scenes...maybe China aren't confident that cash would be used appropriately...maybe they've been burnt previously.

Maybe they plan to give $100,000 immediately, plus aid and more next week.

You don't know, and neither do I.

Presumably significantly less than china have given or it would make china look even worse.

    But every penny counts eh?
where did most of those 450k come from? Philippine Chinese?

Just remembered saw those similar words when HK discussed how much money to donate to China not long ago. forgot which event, was the decision not to donate?

I see you are being as obtuse as ever... Here's a number for you, the Philippine government gave $450 000 when China suffered a bad earthquake in 2008. It is in poor taste for a bigger and richer country to give back less than it was given and it doesn't take a genius(meaning even you can figure it out) that this obvious lack of generosity is related to politics.

Personally, I don't think China is that much different than others in acting this way however it remains unfortunate that the poor and the suffering take the brunt of these political differences. I doubt many are admiring China for their generosity at the moment...

As INXS asked, what is the line in $ value between generosity and stinginess when given to humanitarian aid?
fair enough, but then don't get all defensive on the internet when some of the fellow funeral attendees point out that you are petty and somewhat vindictive.

but thanks for turning up and dropping your 10 kuai. Very, erm, commendable.

    US$8.2 trillion in foreign reserves.

To be fair though, China has always been quite insistent that it does not interfere with another country's affairs.

If you read the article posted by blueeagle the humanitarian aid is also 100,000. so a total of 200,000. so you now have two of your figures, you still going to avoid giving an answer?
