Presumably significantly less than china have given or it would make china look even worse.

You suppose wrong. What is going to "help anyone" is targeted money, supplies and assistance, not politics.

For the record, the Philippines gave US$450,000 plus medical teams in response to the Sichuan earthquake.

I see you are being as obtuse as ever... Here's a number for you, the Philippine government gave $450 000 when China suffered a bad earthquake in 2008. It is in poor taste for a bigger and richer country to give back less than it was given and it doesn't take a genius(meaning even you can figure it out) that this obvious lack of generosity is related to politics.

Personally, I don't think China is that much different than others in acting this way however it remains unfortunate that the poor and the suffering take the brunt of these political differences. I doubt many are admiring China for their generosity at the moment...

Yes, and what is wrong with that? It's my money and this is charity and I damn well give it to the person that I believe deserves of my money. Just because I am rich doesn't mean that I have to give it all to someone I don't care much about. The fact that I turned up and gave something and that would save some lives is already commendable.

As INXS asked, what is the line in $ value between generosity and stinginess when given to humanitarian aid?

If you read the article posted by blueeagle the humanitarian aid is also 100,000. so a total of 200,000. so you now have two of your figures, you still going to avoid giving an answer?
