A few days in HK so far and I hate it. Tell me I'm being ridiculous.

    @East_Coast, good post!

    Hopefully the OP doesn't live in a high rise with balcony or large opening windows.

    I would expect someone living in Disco Bay to at least half-heartedly agree with it

    Not sure what living in DB has would mean ' to somewhat agree' with your statement - during my many years in Hong Kong I also lived in Mong Kok, Tsim Sha Tsui, Central, Sheung Wan as well as in Shatin

    Ok, so why did you move to DB?

    If you really need to know:
    1. I was very ill at some point and wanted to get out of the hustle and bustle downtown
    2. Mr. Elle works in Tung Chung, commuting is very easy for him
    3. We both got a lot of friends here
    4. I like the lack of cars and actually enjoy the ferry rides
    5. When we bought our place, we've got a lot bigger and nicer property here (low rise, huge terrace, walking distance to bus stop and ferry pier) than elsewhere
    6. I actually like DB, it's got a great community, we tend to know our neighbours here...
    7. The beach is less than a minute walking distance from our front door, swimming pool about 3 minutes (heated indoor pool 15 minutes)
    Kfay and z754103 like this.

    All I can say Elle, is don't go down to CC level.
    Have a relaxing evening on your terrace with a good glass of wine, cheers.

    Nice. Now this is a post that a frustrated, new expat could find useful

    I should go to bed. I am all catty and judgemental today.
    Welcome to geoexpat.
