    Curtains/ window coverings

Just moved into and absolutely great flat with massive windows and no curtains and whilst seeing the sunrise at 5.00am everymorning initially has a novelty we now need curtains or blinds or something. Can anyone recommend where we can get fabric blinds made to measure relatively economically. I have heard that going over the border into Shenzen is good but with the need to have a two visit vias this is strating to be a pain (even so if anyone can recommend somewhere there that would be good also). Thnaks in advance for your help

I tried the place recommended by Baconsarni here: http://www.geoexpat.com/forum/thread12041-2.html

They were fine. Not as massively cheap as indicated in the post, but priced reasonably. Quality is decent, not the best workmanship, but several steps up from the crap you get in SZ.

Alternatively, you could try Wai Wing Upholstery and Curtains. I had the owner come over to measure up my sofa for a new cover and he was very helpful and willing to come around at night to measure the sofa up. If his upholstery is anything to go by, his curtains should be better than the first place.

Phone is 2890 3814, address is 17 Sun chung St, Mezz Floor, Tai Hang CWB. Email is [email protected].

It isn't all crap in SZ. We had nice floor to ceiling, silk curtains with daylight block made in SZ. And also had a duvet cover and bed skirt done while we were spending money.
Many HK curtain guys aren't doing anything more than taking your orders to SZ anyway (just like the tailors).

Fair point- perhaps I was over generalising. But with SZ, I think that you need to be a bit more diligent in finding a good place and that recourse is more of a pain if anything goes wrong.

For ease you could just head to somewhere like Spotlight in megabox (kowloon bay), I know it is cheaper to get these things done 'locally' but sometimes I find it can be worth paying a little bit more just for less hassle...

As far as I can tell, if you measure up your windows and then head to their curtains/blinds sections they will do the job there and then. The prices generally aren't bad in there either.

My wife insists that a first-timer going to SZ needs a guide otherwise they could be really disappointed.
Everything available in SZ runs from junk to great.
