    some are close, some are ridiculous or not accurate translations, other completely wrong

    Wanchai's translation is inaccurate, or so I am told.
    "Hooker land" could be a possible translation eh..

    I would hope most of these placename meanings would be common knowledge for long-term residents here, but judging by the number of HK-based expats sharing this in wonderment on Facebook, most of them are still clueless about the local language.

    Hey, just so you know, I would never move to a foreign country and not learn or use their official language. I proudly use Hong Kong's official language every day
