Where to buy Ground Coffee for an Espresso Machine?

Hi guys, could you advise where can I buy good quality ground coffee for an Espresso machine? I am planning to buy a De Longhi machine soon and thinking of not getting into grinding the beans myself. Do they sell Espresso Grind Roasted Coffee Powder in Hong Kong? If so where and any recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

There are heaps of places in HK which will suffice, I've used this one in the past and always been happy: http://www.hkcoffee.com/

Most decent coffee shops will also sell you beans and/or grind them to your specifications

Tip: don't start off with the most expensive beans, start with some of the cheaper (but still fresh) beans so you can experiment with dosing and tamping - if you don't know what those words mean, you have some research to do before you pull your first shot!

I think I need to round off this post...
I used to have an espresso machine, a good looking but not a very good one really, the Francis Francis X1 - it was always a pain to get a decent shot from, and this is despite my best efforts (adjusting dosage, grind and tamp)
When that machine finally died (the pump), I bought a Nespresso (yes, coffee snobs, Nespresso)

Now what do I get? perfect shots, every time.

I still have a moka pot for times when I want to have some diversity, but as every true coffee snob knows, moka pots don't make espresso, oh well.

Just want to forewarn you OP - making (good) espresso aint easy.

Haha! thanks for the info robertlempriere I would still prefer a real coffee machine over a Nespresso (my opinions might change over the years though) for now! I make coffee in my office for myself using a similar machine in my office but that's a more expensive Bean to Cup machine. I can only buy a Ground Coffee to Espress machine. I will try Pacific / Starbucks to see if they can grind the beans if I buy from them

Many threads here discussing coffee. I personally buy my beans from Greco Coffee in Old Bailey Street, Central.

    Beans > Ground > Cheap

The Hario hand grinder is quite good. Costs about HK$280 or so. Ready to use espresso coffee you can find basically in every supermarket (i.e. LavAzza is common)

This said, all higher quality places that sell loose beans also grind them on request.

Browns (??) in Saikung even has a roaster in their shop. Their green beans are around a whoppy $70/100g though.

Yep I bought a nespresso machine a couple of years ago and I put it down as one of my best purchases ever! I wasted so much coffee from it going stale when I had a real machine, and it was a pita to wash

Fully agree with Bob, you'll need patience.

From my experimentation I found the grind is one of the most important aspects of a good espresso and I belive you will have more luck if you go the grinder route, however you need a decent one.

Would suggest a flick through http://hongkong.geoexpat.com/forum/211/thread7929.html which has tons of good advice on all aspects of coffee.

The grind setting for the ground coffee may not suit your machine. Therefore I suggest you to get a decent grinder in order to make a proper shot. I would say grinder is more important than the machine for espresso.
