Thumbs down Seriously bad service from Air conditioner cleaning company

    Hi there,

I wish to share my experience to help the community to avoid these troubles.

I have a couple of split-type A/c units. I called around to find a company. I chose this company due to the first approach and clear website and their english.

1-I arranged the quotation and time slot on the phone.
2-On the designated day/time no one arrived. I called to discover they forgot the appointment.
3-after many hours they and many phone calls in between they finally arrived.
4-moving their tools they damages a door wood profile where a piece of profile came off.
5-finally they managed the cleaning of the air conditioning units. I paid them.
6-they left just to receive my call as the units where leaking water (to clean intact they have dismantled the whole plastic cover)
7-they came after few hours to fix the leaking.
8-fine? no. A unit after sometimes that is was running started to rattle no-stop. (Yes, of course was the bedroom's.)
9-I called back and after few days they arrived to "fix".
10-after 10 minutes they try to convince the unit was fine.
11-I lost patience. Calling and calling back with them their "Manager" they "solved" the problem putting a piece a paper behind the plastic cover and left.
12-the unit kept rattling all day....all night!
13-I tried to call back but this company never replied me back and avoiding answering my phone calls.
14-I had to call the manufacturer of my A/C to check and change a part broken during the cleaning.
15-From their 1st visit to the fixing this whole process took 1 month = all my weekends and no A/C in the meantime in the bedroom.

Wanna enjoy this wonderful service? the company is: www.talent.hk or Talent Engineering HK Ltd

Its bizarre because you would think they would be decent since they have a decent-looking page!

Thanks for sharing your experience, I wish we could have a page to consolidate bad repair/reno service providers. Usually the best method is to ask your neighbours or the guard in your building, and if they are local they can possibly point you to a trustworthy guy they know (and possibly translate for you if need be).

Your problem was failure to spend inordinate amounts of time on Geoexpat.

If you had you would have read http://hongkong.geoexpat.com/forum/3...ead301369.html and not bothered with air conditioner cleaning companies in the first place.

My split ac is dripping water so I suspect the drainage pipe is blocked. Is this something I can clear out from the internal bit (can't reach the outside).

YouTube makes it look simple but I don't want to permanently bugger the machine.

First check if the indoor unit's drainage is blocked by pouring water.

Into the bottom of the unit?

I've cleared it before by giving the drainage pipe from the bottom of the unit a few gentle squeezes! The pressure can sometimes dislodge any dirt blockage, and doesn't seem to harm the aircon.

Ok and I'm I right in thinking to reach the drainage pipe you have to basically lift up the entire front section of the unit to expose the wall/pipework behind?

At the bottom of the indoor unit is a long-shaped place for water collection. Remove the dirt and pour water on it. The water should flow into the drainage hole which is located on the left or right of the unit. If the drainage hole is blocked then try to remove the dirt with a long shaped object such as a toothpick.
Once the indoor unit is cleared and the problem is still there, it is probably the outdoor drainage pipe.
