    Views on co-sleeping.

My sister lives in Australia and she is a new mum. Her baby is teething and having a hard time of it and some of her friends (on Facebook!) were suggesting she bring her daughter back into her bed for a while. My sister said no as she didn't want to 'undo all the hard work' of getting her baby to settle in her own room.

I had to laugh, my kids are 5 and 6 and we still all sleep together! Our boys have their own room and the older one is starting to make noises about using it but we're putting no pressure on him. My wife is local Hong Kongese. It is very common here to co-sleep.

When they were babies, they slept in baskets in our bed. To add, I understand that Hong Kong has one of the lowest rates of SIDS in the world but one of the highest rates of co-sleeping in the world.

Anyway, your thoughts? Please let us know your nationality too!

This is mostly an asia vs western nation. Most filipino, thai etc will co sleep while in US Europe emphasis is on sleeping cycle and getting rhe babies to sleep by themselves.

Not sure that's entirely true. I read a few articles a while back (when a friend was discussing this) which suggested that the benefits are being recognised in the West and it's becoming more popular, albeit in a rather "trendy" way...

It is difficult and we do all sorts of variations. Sometimes the two boys are together or either one of us with the both kids or 2 + 2. Rarely in the same bed with all four or us.

Whatever works for you. I'm from US and my wife is local. Our son is a little over 6 months now and has been in his crib since the second night at home. He's happy and doing just fine, actually Id say he is going great but I'm biased. We'll occasionally get a nap in with him in our bed or if hes up early 5-6am ish my wife will bring him into bed to breastfeed a bit and then we all sleep a bit longer.

I have been suffering this for the past few months as my baby is turning 1 tmrw, every since she was able to roll and prop up my mrs has been keeping her in between us in the bed, I keep telling my mrs there is a crib right next to our bed why the feck dont you put her in there, why am I getting WWF wrestled every night, I keep warning her that later on it will be difficult to separate her and get her sleeping in her own bed. All this fell on deaf ears

Which tend to validate the fact that as of today it is more prevalent here than in the west (where it is becoming as you say a trend) :-)

My kid has two, one that even has a projection thing in side, comes with a fancy on/off remote as well, does she like it, Hell no.

I gave one to my helper to send back to her family and the fancy one I'm trying to sell it LOL

Sounds nice until you get kicked in the nuts at 3am. Baby in cot equals good night sleep for everyone. Baby in bed equals good night sleep for baby only.
