Kind of interesting, but if the announcer is an academic specialising in English, why are some of the messages so weird?
Especially that one about mobile phones.
What about the voice(s) of Citybus and First Bus?
There are a LOT more bus stops than the MTR – can't imagine the amount of work/recordings required for Citybus/First Bus.
I'm sorry to have seen the picture because her voice creates a more pleasant picture for me - younger, kinder, and friendlier. Similarly, I don't like to see pictures of radio presenters and news-readers, because they almost always surprise and disappoint. I wish I were as good-looking as my own voice.

The SCMP article about her contains a description of a true enthusiast:
"Hong Konger Nicholas Louie Wai-ting, 31 ... is the founder of a website dedicated to public transport in Hong Kong. The site includes an archive of more than 1,400 MTR and KCR (the Kowloon-Canton Railway, which later merged with the MTR) announcements, many of which he recorded when he was a student and would ride entire lines holding up a microphone to the carriage speakers to capture announcements."
She's the oldest looking 31 yo female Asian I've seen. Usually they look about 5-10 years younger than their actual age, not this bird.
whoops, misread things. The 31 yo was the Internet guy, not the voice.

I don't know about Pokfield, but both Pokfulam and Wong Chuk Hang are supposed to be vague transliteration/transcriptions of Cantonese place names. I would probably write them as Bokfoolum and Wong Jook Hang.Original Post Deleted
If you're going by how it is spelt in the Latin alphabet and how you (as an English speaker I presume) imagine it to sound like then
have you complained about how English place names (or at least place names in England) such as Leicester (Lester), Worcester (Wooster) and Plaistow (Plarstow) is pronounced?
I don't hear her voice on the new South Island Line train announcements. The new voice seems younger/higher pitched/not as deep.
Edit: Never mind, Cheri's voice is back. Seems like it was just temporary for the first week
