    Agree with Kathryn when she says you shouldn't take it off. It's a wedding ring FFS. Why would you take it off when it's so small that you're bound to lose it. Anyway it's just a ring so get over it. I'd have more empathy if your husband was killed.

    Hotel means you were travelling? Did you have travel insurance? Even if you didn't explicitly buy any, work would normally give travel insurance if your job requires it or some credit cards give free travel insurance if you pay with it.

    Both my wife and I take our rings off when we get home and only put it on when we go out somewhere. I sometimes find it uncomfortable especially with the hot weather and your fingers can swell a bit.
