Folks here complain about HK a lot, both for justifiable and not-so-justifiable reasons. But let me ask you, if you did not moved to HK, where would you have gone instead? And did you ever regret not doing that?

I had started making early preparations to move to Israel before I got an offer of a job here, out of the blue - from some cousins-of-cousins who had heard I wanted to leave the UK. Although I had visited HK once, briefly, a few years earlier on the way to Australia, it would never have crossed my mind to move here, look for work, etc...
Do I regret coming to HK instead? No. It would probably have been better for my career - although not necessarily for my bank balance - to have been in Israel, and there would probably have been more chance of me being married with a sprog or two. I'm generally of the opinion that when you come to one of those forks in your life, when you take a decision - or a decision/change is forced upon you by circumstances - you should run with it. Unless it turns out to be a genuine disaster, you've almost certainly gained in some ways and lost out in others, and there' not much point trying to go back and compare.
L'Alsace, no.
I wonder if those folks who regret coming here would admit it...
South America.
I was working on getting there when I got the opportunity to come here, took it and that's it. Still plan at some point to head down there.
