    Snake Identification

Saw this snake in DB today. I can't recognize it, nor can I find anything like this in google. Does anyone know what type of snake this is, please.

    Looks like a Red-Necked Keelback.

I agree Claire, the blue head was throwing me but it seems that the hatchlings and juveniles sport a grey/blue head. I've only seen the adults and the head wasn't blue/grey.

Something to keep away from anyway!

    And its a fat one

They are kinda special. They are not only have a venomous bite but they are also poisonous to the touch, on their back.

I thought there was a Facebook page promoting Hong Kong's snakes, but I can't find it or maybe what I'm thinking of is the Lamma Snake Sightings. Would be worth it to post on their page, too: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1228...90269/?fref=nf.

Here's an HKU guide to HK snakes (and yes, it looks like the red-necked keelback): Reptiles of Hong Kong 香港爬行動物

Thanks everyone, all information good to know. I have a huge respect for snakes and now know to give this one all the space s/he needs. I just hope s/he is safe as this was in the wide open and some people are too quick to kill any snake they meet.

S/he was consuming a little frog at the time.

Snakes do not want to be collected. Leave them alone so they can have some fun.
