Anyone recommend a hike or walk with a lot of flame trees along the trail? Seems like they are in full bloom right now & I have a friend from the states in town who is enthralled by them.....

Hmm, not a very good recommendation, but we walked the Mac. 10 from Tuen Mun and stopped early in So Kwun Wat and saw some (kind of at a distance). It's an easy flat walk once you get up the hill. There's a nice on at HKU near the East Gate entrance (along the actual car road).
Update, this looks like a good guide and has some suggestions for you: Green Hong Kong Campaign - Blossoms around town

The ones along the beachfront from Golden Beach to Cafeteria Old were in full bloom on Thursday, but I don't know what the last couple of days' downpours have done to them.
If it's not bucketing down after work, I might go and check ...
Return report: there are just a few trees still looking brilliant at the Golden beach end (in front of the beachfront restaurant). This evening there was an equally brilliant orange carpet under others, which will doubtless be mushy brown by tomorrow morning.
Flame trees are very beautiful but they appear so randomly. You usually just see a couple here or there. I've never seen a large grouping or grove..
makes me wonder if they are native to this area or brought in?
I saw a beauty today in full bloom on a street corner near tin shui wai train station

Thought of this old thread @Open Casket In Guangzhou there is a lovely, large garden, the South China Botanical Garden and they have a long flame tree walk! We really enjoyed the open spaces and variety there. Nice weekend break from Hong Kong!
