    South Lantau Advice

I would like to explore South Lantau (Cheung Sha / Ham Tin ) and would like to bring my dog. My understanding is that you are not allowed to drive there without a permit and that getting a blue Lantau taxi is not easy. I will plan on going on a weekday.

    Some possible options:

    (1) Drive somewhere close and catch a Lantau taxi.

    (2) Park somewhere close to the ferry terminal and take a ferry to Mui Wo and catch a Lantau taxi

My preference would be Option one but I am not sure of where the closest place to South Lantau (Tung Chung?) is that I could drive and catch a blue taxi. Any recommendations and advice are welcome!

You can drive up to Shek Mun kap village and find easy parking there.
Parking in TC is expensive, unless you can find the library

Better take MTR, walk to the main bus terminal for bus 23 and 11, buy a day pass for unltd rides

Are dogs allowed on the bus? I don't think I have ever seen one.

Blue taxis are not that hard to get. Certainly not on weekdays. Catch the ferry to Mui Wo and pick up a taxi there. Usually a couple waiting.

Or apply for a weekday permit and drive all the way.

The driving permit is already sold out for June. They must be going fast considering I checked last night and none were available for regular cars. They still have permits for electric cars.
