    Dutch speeding ticket

I've been blessed with a speeding ticket from the Netherlands.
I don't fully understand what it says but I can gather from the arabic numerals that I was doing 108 in a 100 zone and I need to pay 33 Euros.

Any clues what will happen if I happen to ignore this and let it ride? I hold a Hong Kong licence.

They must have bloody good speed cameras to clock you from half way around the world!

Was it with a rental? If so I guess then then rental company might charge your credit card, eventually, with plenty of added fees.

I would pay it. It's actually a bargain, in HK it starts at HK$ 320

    Dutch?

Does that mean they're going halves with you and splitting the fine?

Usually, nothing will happen, even if you are national of that country but live abroad and in a non EU country. Had this twice

We have a few from France over the years. The rental company gives the information to the police, after that it's between you and your conscience. We have chosen to pay simply because we are there a lot and plan to move there eventually. Guess if you don't plan on going back it won't be an issue.

Just a note that comes to mind. A European got a parking ticket in the US. I think it was just $10 or so. Left the country, didn't pay.

Now it's impossible for him to get a visa for the USA. Was refused several times. He tried to pay the fine with all penalties etc, but nope. End of story.

    Every jurisdiction is different.

I had one from Quebec once - they chased me for 15 years before they gave up.

I had one from UAE - they make you pay when you return your rental car.

EU & the Dutch - no idea what they do but I am going back there in September. This one was in March, they got to me now.
I think I'll take my chances and ignore it - but the wife says pay it, its a small amount.
Lets see what happens when I visit in September.
