Question Totally random ... Macau Taxis Spotted in Hong Kong

Just wanted to share something I saw yesterday ...

northbound on the freeway between Tsuen Wan and Sham Tseng, a vehicle recovery truck with one taxi on the flat bed, and another on tow. The weird thing was that they were both painted in the distinctive black/ cream livery of Macau taxis, and had Macau taxi registration plates (at least on the backs of them). What the ???

Any ideas, theories (the more bizarre the better), are welcome!

Do they get shipped over for major servicing? I cannot imagine why....

    Movie props?

Find a way to blame the mainlanders...

Movie props was the least unlikely of the few scenarios that came to mind ...

But servicing? The local gangs ould NEVER accept losing business to the HK gangs (yeah, I did ask for bizarre ideas )

But the HK gangs own the macau gangs?

May be the cars are shipped to HK from the manufacturer and then shipped to Macau?

That's what I was thinking. Did they look brand new? Strange shipping / delivery route if true though.

Once in a while if you drive around Kwai Tsing area (Kwai Chung, Tsuen Wan, Tsing Yi etc) late night you see lots of identical brand new and still protected cars (stickers on bumpers, covers on seats) driving from what seems the container ports towards either Tsuen Wan or somewhere in the west NT. Quite a funny sight, they seem to be in racing mood too with the empty streets and new rides.

I always assumed it's RoRo ships or similar, but not sure the details. I've also frequently seen expensive cars in the same "dress" driving from HK across the border to SZ, so same logic there they arrive in HK by boat then continue their journey from there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Macao taxi deliveries also end up in HK, and then get to Macao as individual cars... (by ferry/small boat in a container?).

Daily Mail has an areal shot actually:

Macau usually uses Toyota Corolla and Hyundai 4 door sedans as taxis. if they were, HK Toyota crown comfort cabs, painted up in Macau, taxi colours, maybe, Crown Motors HK are trying to promote their purpose built LPG cab for asessesment of Macau taxi fleet operators.

If not, it's a film, or tv commercial prop. Lol
