Was it Pokemon related or simply a suicide?

Desperately sad when you feel life is no longer worth living.

Hong Kong has the distinction of having one of the lowest ratios of psychiatrists/population in the developed world.

Still a lot of stigma in Asian cultures about seeking mental health care.

Still someone was hurt and this is one of the issues with jumping. It becomes a totally selfish act when someone else is hurt or killed as has happened quite a few times here.

I think if you are at the mental stage of considering jumping out of a building to end your own life then considering the consequential impacts upon others will probably not be factored in. Yes suicide can be seen as selfish but to get to that point I suggest that your thinking is not going to be logical and well thought out.

I just feel it reflects extremely poorly on HK.

    Just looking at some stats.

Hong Kong Suicide Rate in 2014 was 12.3 (per 100,000)

source: Suicide Rate - Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention

This would rank it at around the same level as the US at 12.38 (per 100,000)

According to SCMP this poor oke had problems at work and had just received a warning from his manager. How can we be in a situation where making a mistake / performance at your job is an issue so serious that you would contemplate and then commit suicide?

In some respects we are an fcuked up society in HK - for goodness sake its only a job.

I was thinking the same, he must have had other issues that probably caused his work performance to drop and then getting bollocked at work and fear of losing the job as well was too much to handle.
