    Missing western home baking?

Am just doing some market research at the minute to see if anyone is interested! Am a mature western lady from the UK living in Wan Chai , love baking the old favourites, home made bread, sausage rolls, Eccles cakes etc, would come to your home , you supply the ingredients I supply the labour! Could do food prep for your evening meal/dinner parties too! Would charge $75 an hr .any feedback would be useful

You will struggle I think with the majority of kitchens that have no oven.

A good pivot may be to teach helpers how to bake - make the best use of what's at home, their oven / equipment etc.

You'd be able to charge more than $75 for that for sure.

Shri's idea is a good one. Most homes with kitchens big enough to have an oven also have helpers.

Not sure how much baking you have done here in HK, but we do some baking ourselves as we do have an oven and also a breadmaker (husband likes toast with his breakfast and we resent paying over HKD 50 for a decent loaf) and we find fluctuations in humidity can make a big difference in the finished product, especially with bread.

If you can copy greggs steak bake you'd be coining it in.

    OR ...

Modernising the oldies to cater for the fit and trendy ... gluten free, almond flour, vegan sausage rolls.

Yes, I'm done for the day.

Some people already do cooking class in Sai Kung Area for example below which is posted in local groups, maybe the OP could try to do this type as well but with Baking.

NEW SERIES OF COOKING CLASSES FOR DOMESTIC HELPERS announced by Sai Kung Chef Jennifer Kaur.
She teaches helpers a new range of dishes with culinary influences from, eg, Mediterranean, traditional Malay, Capetown and northern Indian.
Classes cost $980 for three hours. Helpers learn to prepare four dishes, an appetiser, two mains and a desert (typical menu: Indonesian Chicken Satays, Capetown Fish Curry, Malay Chicken Rendang and Orange Panna Cotta with Fresh Berries).
Jennifer gives helpers to take home a set of recipes, cooking instructions and taster samples of each dish.
For employers who want helpers well trained as cooks Jennifer recommends six classes at a discount.

It annoying that domestic ovens don't have humidity control. Small commercial ovens with temp/time profile control and humidity setting are getting viable but still a little too expensive

@chuckster007 yes quite a few, but none of them are done one on one at the persons home. Makes a difference if there was someone who offered customized training.

Wow! I really like this idea. If you have a helper that is interested in cooking this can be as good for her as it is for you. Is the training 'accredited'?
