I can really recommend them, they are primarily for anti-skid on wooden floors but are excellent receptacles for messy poop as you wipe them and stick them in the washing machine

ATM I am using the disposable ones. Plus a lot of newspaper. the only really good use for the SCMP apart from the daily crossword...

It took me THREE hours on a 973 bus from near HKU to Stanley Plaza + a {mere} 20 minute wait for it. That was from 15:00 till 18:00 in travelling at a snail-like pace from HKCC to Chung Hom Kok Road.

It took me 1.5 hours to get back on the very same bus at 18:22 from the Plaza.

Torrents of water coming off the hillside between HK Country Club & Deep Water Bay, and a small amount of traffic movement slowly going West to East.

I'd have aborted at Deep Water Bay & returned home - but for the fact that no buses, or Maxicabs were seen heading towards Aberdeen - and many people were apparently walking from Repulse Bay on the road to get to "civilisation" in Aberdeen.

It took me 3 hours there, and I was prepared to get a 14 bus to Sai Wan Ho and take the MTR to HKU & possibly "hoof it home" from there.

However, a 973 turned up & I knew it was not too likely that a 14 bus would come any time soon, so got the 973 knowing that it would be a painfully slow journey.

I was pleased, therefore, that the normally 35 minute ride "only" too 1.5 hours!

    Thumbs down flights?

I'm due to fly out of Hong Kong Friday at 00:35 - do you guys think the typhoon will effect my flight?

There will always be cases where it will be real real bad. But thee cases are extremely rare these days. Some will happen for sure but as I said, in most cases...nope.

Predictions say that it will be quite far away at that time; I'm guessing you will be fine for takeoff.

Maybe. There were Force 7 winds at the airport when #SARIKA was over 500km away. #HAIMA is a much bigger storm and will be closer to 400km away when your flight leaves.

It could be a close call...definitely check. I understand some airlines are already offering free changes...check with your airline.

*Edit*...it should be within the 400km boundary by that time as a Severe Typhoon with wind speeds of over 155kmh...

    Check with your airline.

Sadly the Emirates HK phone line is closed for this evening, darn it. I'll try again tomorrow. Thanks!
