When that happens, just get out a computer and Skype a phone number for a country that is still open. Skype phone calls are dirt cheap and there is always SOMEWHERE in the world where it's day time!

Good tip - I just Skyped Hong Kong Cathay office as the local Vietnam office was shut . Even more pro-tip - download the Skype app on your phone as the call quality tends to be much better - especially for the person on the other end. Better/closer microphone in the phone vs. computer I guess.

Sunny hazy day now. The calm before the storm.

Haima will move across the northern part of the South China Sea today. It will still be at a distance from Hong Kong during the day. However, as Haima moves progressively towards the coast of Guangdong, local winds will strengthen gradually overnight and there will also be swells. The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No.3 later today.

Whats the betting it will turn into a damp squib again. All the prep and battening down the hatches yet we just get a bit of breezy rain? Has happened the last few T8s.
