Is it possible to hire a part-time domestic helper legally?

    Hi,

After a very bad experience with my previous DH, I wish to hire a part-time DH legally, signing a contract. Everybody says I can't, but why not? There must be helpers with papers, who wish to work extra after-hours. Or those who work in the restaurants and wish to work extra? Or can I split a DH with someone else, and have 50/50?
Any agency that can help me?

I can't believe everybody has an in-living DH only.

ps. I do not wish to have someone working for me 'black' without signing a contract.

    Thanks DeletedUser,
I prefer someone from Philippines or Indonesia. I find them positive and hardworking.

Does it mean that all the 'part-time' ad here on GeoExpat are illegal?

Your only hope then is finding someone who has PR or on a dependent visa.

Indeed. I just wish to have someone I can have a contract with.

I don't think you have a contract per se with a part time helper. It would usually be someone who holds a dependent visa. This person is allowed to work at anything they wish to really as its their spouse who is their sponsor. You can place an advert on the domestic helper wanted list explicitly stating you are looking for a LEGAL part timer. When you meet them for interview take a photo of their dependent visa from their passport and also their HKID card. You're then completely covered and aren't doing anything illegal.

    Brasso,
Thanks for this advice. Sounds reasonable and simple.
And if there is a problem, can I go to the police?

yes, exactly... that's why I wish to do it legally this time.
