    ya and likely she will decide to get married by the time she has to decide what kind of apartment to buy.

    anyway seriously speaking, i think equity investment or bond investment is much more sensible in asia (i.e. hk, sg) than property investment. In the states/canada, property yield can easily go up to 8-9%, that's at least 2-3% above the borrowing rate.

    here, unless you are extremely cash rich and is finding something to diversified your investment, else taking a loan and 'investing' in a property just does not make sense.

    simply google for the very first announcement date of the mtr west island line and check the transactions before and after that to get a feeling of how much it has been priced in already.
    Not even announcements .. I remember a spike in property prices when the developers of Cyberport / Bel Air put up an MTR sign outside their show flats. Simple and silly things like that affect prices here ..
