From HKO:
Tropical Storm Pakhar is expected to move across Luzon and enter the South China Sea tomorrow (Saturday). The Observatory will consider issuing the Standby Signal No.1 during the day tomorrow.
Owing to the terrain of Luzon, there is still uncertainty in the future track and intensity of Pakhar after crossing Luzon. It will move in a general northwest direction towards western Guangdong but will probably be further away from Hong Kong than Hato. Local winds are expected to strengthen with occasional heavy squally showers on Sunday.
Members of the public are advised to take precautions against strong winds and clear storm water drains to avoid flooding. Please also complete all clearing works in relation to Hato as early as possible.

Just got the warning text message for people in specified areas to evacuate (Aurura/Isabela).
The message for earthquakes (we had one a couple of weeks back) is more frightening than the earthquake - the phone goes crazy.
This morning the SRA already cancelled any dragon boating for Sunday.
@hull hope it won't turn into a strong typhoon when hitting the Philippines. I mean HK can take a beating but for the Philippines it is always devastating....
Well it pissed down today as it passed to the north so expect plenty of the wet stuff if it comes within a couple of hundred km of HK.
it could get messy
HKO......If Pakhar strengthens further or adopts a track closer to Hong Kong overnight tonight, the Observatory will not rule out the possibility of issuing the Gale or Storm Signal No. 8 before dawn tomorrow.
