Hi-fi: cheap district for audio gear?

I'm looking for Sennheiser headphones. Can any direct me where the hi-fi shops selling headphones are?

I have yet to discover the hi-fi "district" - like how some areas all the shops sells nearly the same things, or for eg. computer malls. The closest is probably Sham Shui Po, but they mostly sell DIY gear like valve amps and aftermarket cables, and most don't have a decent selection of headphones.

I've come across the odd single shop near Central and a few scatterred in Mongkok. I've also stumbled into a lone little audio shop at Causeway Bay, but they refused to discount the pricetag - most probably because I can't speak the lingo and they think I'll pay full price. Problem is, their full price is 60% more than US retail equivalent. I would have thought it would be cheaper in HK - based on computer parts prices and photographic equipment that I've shopped for.

Sham Shui Po is indeed the HiFi district. There are a couple of places in Mong Kok too. You could try http://headphonehk.com/index.htm for Senns. They had 580s, 600s and 650s last time I was in there.

In Mong Kok I know of two centres. One on Sai Yeung Choi South near Dundas St in Wah Fat Mansion (I think). Floors of audio gear but not so good for cans. The other is in the Prosperity Building on the corner of Nelson St. In the basement there is a couple of headphone selling stores. To get upstairs you will need to go in from Tung Choi St.

Too many fakes on Ap liu also you need to watch out for repackaged used stuff. I recommend buying them directly from the distributor.

There's a place on the 2nd floor of Wanchai Computer Centre that carries Shures, Sennheisers and AudioTecnica stuff.

You can also try Yau Shing Commercial Centre (友誠商業中心)
51 Sai Yeung Choi St, Mong Kok (Exit E MK MTR). I can't remember which floors have stores selling headphones. I bought my most recent pair of cans from Kingsound (as mentioned before www.headphonehk.com). They carry a good range and you can easily call them for prices not listed on the site. The basement of the Tak Fat Shopping Arcade (德發商場), 6E Nelson Street, Mongkok has a few headphone stores .
