    Public holidays for your helper

Do you give your helper all of the public holidays? As opposed to just the statutory holidays.

We got two helpers and they arrange their own days off, including weekends. I don't even know which are the holidays for them, only need to have one of them working everyday.

My wife keeps telling me helpers don't get public holidays during their probation period but I can't find this documented anywhere - anyone know if that is true or not?

I didn't even know helpers had a probation period.

They do get them but in the first 3 months they are unpaid.

I think you’d be a stingy bastard to calculate how to not pay for a few public holidays honestly but legally you can.

Not all public holidays but in return she does get her days off whenever we are on holiday (4/5 weeks a year) it really depends on the day and if we for example just came back from a long haul flight then we would like her to work
, or at least half a day in the morning, so we can sleep a bit.
