    Messages not going through. I'm guessing it is lost in the seat and no one has noticed, battery now dead.

    I'm more cynical. It's probably been sold for a few hundred in some dark alley, to be dismantled into parts.

    You know that battery is dead (from find my iPhone) or are unsure if its been switched off?

    Waiting to report to the police is not wise. You should have gone to the cop shop in person immediately.

    I would have gotten in a cab myself and gone on a chase across HK to find the cab. Using the 'find my' app.
