Just noticed the other day when I needed to throw something and I couldn't find the rubbish bins at their usual spots at Central and Sheung Wan areas. Had to bring it back home. Have they gone missing or permanently removed?

Yes, I commented on this a few weeks ago - they first went missing in protest areas, but as the protests spread it seems like they've gone missing all across town. This + missing glass recycling bins.
I do spot a few every now and then, which is a sign that they've become rare enough to a point where a rubbish bin spotting is celebrated.
On a positive note, I don't see that much rubbish piled up where the bins are supposed to be, so I guess people have adapted.
Its just like living in Japan now
Complaints all over HK about this.
Some places people (not sure who) have put on plastic bags to throw your trash in on places where the bins used to be.
Today I saw some bins back at there original place.
I wonder how FEHD is going about doling out the fines for littering....
