Where to buy village land to build village house?

    Hi

Does anyone know any websites, where They advertise village land for sale in Shatin?

Intention is to buy the land and then build a village house on the purchased land.

    Thanks

You can not "buy" land in HK, you buy a land lease from the gov.

And permission to build a village house is only granted to local males with a blood tie to the village chief.

If you want to "build" a village house, then you will have to "buy" an existing village house and rebuild it, or pay a premium for someone's "ding" right to use their land, but then you open a can of worms trying to get a completion certificate.

Some local developers buy up the ding rights from villagers and then build village houses and sell at a premium.

Unless you have some local connections to village chiefs, it will be a very tedious process.

Haven't the courts decided that you must own the piece of land to build the village house on? Just buying a ding right and building on government owned land in the village doesn't work anymore. @GooBee If you are an indigenous villager who has the right to build a house you should probably ask your village chief to help you. I'm sure he knows who has land for sale.

As EMX has mentioned, Caveat Emptor.

    Not usually worth the aggravation....

you can actually buy land from villagers, estate agents around NT do occasional advertise it in chinese, you can not buy lease land from the govt anymore, it was outlawed a few years ago

    EMX - Thanks

I have a “ding” right, but my village has no more land to build for my generation. I approached the Land Office in Shatin and they advised I can still use my ding right to build in any area of Shatin, as long as I can buy a piece of land from someone.

I’ve approached a few estate agents, but none of them have any land for sale in Shatin. Would be most grateful if u could point me to the right direction.

Anyone know of any estate agents who are online based in New Territories to sell village land/old village buildings? Any recommendations appreciated.
