As a chick, I don't have the advantage (romance-wise) of people wanting to marry me for my US passport...

I once actually did a search for "mail-order husbands" to see if there is such a thing. Most of my hits were for Indian marriage brokers seeking to hook up Indian men with Indian women already in the US with green card or U.S. passport...actually, this rare species of woman already is overwhelmed as the immigrant population is about 10:1 male to female. My (white) cousin had a Vietnamese girlfriend and it was the same situation- many, many men wanting to marry her for her citizenship (and her family felt it was her duty to do so, but she ended up marrying a different white guy...).

Some people erroneously believe that it is prohibited to look for an arranged marriage. It isn't. I think it's funny that Westerners think it is against the law....LOL....what a bunch of idiots.

Side note: my roommate, who is 80, owns her own flat. She is the 2nd wife (legitimate marriage) to a Dutch man. 2nd wives were totally legal in Hong Kong until the 1970s. When they got married, she got a flat. Nice one!

They are still married and he comes over once a week. Not sure if they are happy. No kids.
