They can pretty much make as much noise from 9am-6pm I think. Nothing you can do about it.
Unless it's at night or on Sundays there isn't much you can do I think.

Try and ge a canto friend to speak to them and find out what they're doing and what else they still need to do and how long they think it'll take. - Cos you have a wedding party at home on xxx day.
Show an interest in their work - You're also thinking of rennovating your place and they'll generally be open to talking - it's not their flat so they likely won't give a damn about you wandering in and taking look providing you don't get in the way.
As for stepping up - they may well be doing that to meet a deadline. Normally the real noise is in the first 3 days then it's more sporadic after that.
