Do you need to remove lead from drinking water?

I currently have a Philips water filter and boil everything we drink but not sure if I should get the more expensive one which advertises to remove harmful organic compounds and lead.

My building complex is quite new, so I'm guessing the plumbing is up to scratch.

Filter 1 WP3922 - removes harmful organic compounds and lead
Filter 2 WP3911 - cheaper (200HKD compared to 300HKD) and lasts twice as long (6 months, compared to 3 months)

Get it if your health is worth more than the price differential of 100HKD x replacement cycle. Of course, get it. Even if you live in a new building, the pipes going into the bulding may date back to the Colonial past and probably containt lead IMO.

I think what the OP is saying is that it's not really only a $100 more, annually it's $800 more.

HKD 800 is just slightly over US$ 100. Some of you spend more than that on alcohol in a week. Peace of mind is worth US $100 IMO.

I'd say it's still worth filtering / boiling if you're in an older property. In many buildings the water sits in a tank of unknown maintenance standard at 35C for quite a while before reaching your tap.

i see old people hike up the mountain with big empty bottles, fill bottles with fresh clean water coming out of pipes on the sides of the mountain, and haul them heavy bottles home.

They probably live in public housing.
