West Kowloon green space to be convert into 1,820 parking spaces

West Kowloon park was one of the few green areas in the city, now they are converting part of the best "coastline" area, in to a car park, they already have a huge underground car park!

I looked at the WKDA website they have no green polices whatsoever! I cant even find the usual BS about caring for the environment, what a shambles a prime waterfront space lost probably forever, why? because the appalling urban planning did NOT allow for decent public transport or decent cycle tracks.

This was probably by design to develop West Kowloon ELITE Cultural District!! At least looking at the buildings around the area gives that feeling..

Not surprised, but still disappointing nevertheless. Once again the all-too-common HK development urge to concrete over any green space has once again appeared.

it was sold to the public as being a green development, the concrete has barely dried and they are giving a prime waterfront location over to car park, they could have located parking anywhere but not on a prime waterfront site.

next week someone will apply to convert that car park into 50 story tower

100 stories, given its prime real estate location.

Well what do you expect from a city that knocked down a historic railway station and then built a windowless cultural centre on a spot that has the best views in the world!

exhibits are easily damaged by UV (sunlight) particularly painting, to avoid that museums don't have any windows, locating a museum at a prime waterfront location is dumb dumb dumb. same as the rest of West Kowloon

Errr that mistake has been corrected albeit few decades late, new HKMOA has many ceiling height glass windows for common area and regular wall for other areas to protect exhibits as @JAherbert mentioned..

    This doesn't sound remotely true
