    PPL in Hong Kong

Anybody know how much the cost is to get a PPL in Hong Kong?

    Is it even possible?

Seems like there is a Hong Kong Aviation Club but I'm not sure if they are full for PPL training - and dont know where else to go.

Obviously going to US/UK/Australia seems cheaper - but simply not very feasible at this point in time for me

Don't know if this is helpful - just discovered this place when I was wondering around a local industrial building today in Quarry Bay.

As a former glider pilot, I lament the lack of private flying opportunities in HK.

I don't think you can do fixed wings any more because Shek Kong is closed for military only. For rotor craft, the HK Aviation Club can offer training. From what I know, the PPL in HK doesn't includes navigation because HK is too small to have any meaningful training. Which makes it quite useless if you plan to convert to another country's PPL in the future. Make sure u chk with them. I got my PPL (fixed wings) in Clark, Philippines many year ago. Lost it due to insufficient flying hours.

    PPL in HK

I have a buddy who flies at weekends out of Sek kong camp, ex British Army / RAF base, now run by the PLA !

he is British and I am sure would entertain a phone call about private flying here

Try 9518 2496 Neil (say you were given the number by Richard from the Hash or from Queen Vic in Wanchai !!!)

They used to do helicopters in Kai tak and fixed wings in shek Kong... but got prohibited from overflying as construction works at the old runway progressed.
Now it's only shek Kong, only weekends..they don't have any clubhouse there.
